Tesco Charity of the Year 2010
CLIC Sargent is the Tesco Charity of the Year 2010. The aim is to raise £5 million to fund CLIC Sargent specialist children's nurses across the UK, who will help children with cancer spend more time at home and less time in hospital.
Every day 10 children in the UK are diagnosed with cancer and treatment can last up to three years, with children spending weeks and months in hospital. Our goal is to raise at least £60,000 towards the Tesco Charity of the Year £5 million target. The money raised will help fund CLIC Sargent specialist children’s nurses across the UK who will help children with cancer spend as much time at home as possible. For example:
- to save lots of trips back to hospital, these nurses will arrange for children to have some procedures at home, eg. blood tests and chemotherapy
- a child treated for a brain tumour may have disabilities as a result of surgery, and these nurses can help co-ordinate speech therapy or arrange specialist equipment
- a child who has missed months or years at school may need a home tutor, or help with returning to school, which these nurses can help the school to plan and organise
Tesco Bank will donate money to CLIC Sargent for every single transaction at cash machines at Tesco stores. And best of all it's FREE*
*Your card issuer may charge you for credit card cash advances and transactions with cards issued outside the UK.
For every transaction made at ATM's at Tesco, 0.0125p will be donated to CLIC Sargent Promotions Ltd which pays all taxable profits to CLIC Sargent. Tesco Bank expect to donate a minimum of £60,000 from this promotion.
