Q. How long will it take to fill in all my details?

A. It can take between 10 and 20 minutes to answer all our questions, depending on the type of insurance quote you are searching for. We will then search our insurance providers and generate quotes for you within seconds. If you have to dash, you can always choose our ‘Save My Quote’ button. This saves all your responses and means that you can log back in at another time and carry on from where you left off.

Q. Why do you ask for so much information?

A. Because everyone’s circumstances are different, insurance providers ask for as much information as possible so they can calculate your premium based on the risk that applies to your particular circumstances. Different insurance providers use different methods of risk assessment and different ways to calculate your premium. Giving more information lets the insurance providers calculate the most accurate premium for you.

Q. What do I do if I don't know the answers to all the questions you’re asking?

A. If you don’t know the answer to some of the questions we ask you, you can select the ‘Save My Quote’ button on most pages. This saves all your responses to date, and means that you can go away and find out the additional information. When you come back to the website, simply log in with the details you provided, and carry on from where you left off.

Q. Do I have to tell you everything about my circumstances?

A. You need to tell us everything that is relevant to your insurance application. If you miss some information out (like a previous claim or conviction, or a medical condition), you risk having your policy invalidated and having no cover - so please help us make sure you are safely covered and give us all the detailed information you can.

Q. What will you do with all the information I provide?

A. We save your information on our database, then we automatically search our wide range of insurance providers to find the right deals. The information you provide, and the way we communicate with insurance providers, is secure and protected against unauthorised access, so you can rest easy. Your details are kept confidential.

Q. Why do my quotes vary so much between insurance providers?

A. Different insurance providers use different risk assessment and pricing models. That’s why Tesco Compare is so useful - we’ll show you your quotes in one place, at one time, so you can choose the deal that suits you.

Q. How do I know which is the right policy for me?

A. We provide information on some of the key benefits and levels of cover from each relevant insurance provider, so you can study each policy to decide what is important to you. That way, you can make an informed choice about which insurance providers’ cover suits you best.

Q. How does Tesco Compare make money?

A. We make money by getting an introducer’s commission from the insurance providers. You won’t pay anything extra on your policy by using Tesco Compare.
